Surfs Up.... And So Is A Great White Shark In Jaws-ome Photo
Smile, you son of a breach! White Sharks can jump, as this amazing image of a great white shark launching into the air like a rocket shows.
The shark, seemingly floating through the air with the greatest of ease, was captured by surf photographer Jordan Anast at San Onofre, California.
Thankfully that surfer was in front to help give the shark, most likely a juvenile, some scale.
Anast, speaking to The Orange County Register, said: “I thought, ‘That’s a big dolphin.'"
“It’s a shot I’ll never get again. It just looks like ‘Sharknado,’ it doesn’t look real.”
Well, no doubt his amazing photo will have shark and surf fans in a spin in equal measure.
Some may see the image as a close call for any of the surfers who could have been on the receiving end of that shark rising.
After all we know that many juvenile great white shark attacks on humans have been cases of mistaken identity, wrongly identifying the likes of surfers as that shark staple, the seal.
Whilst others will see it as a great example of humans and sharks co-existing in the same waters. Certainly, with the advent of drones and more camera phones we've seen more and more examples of sharks and man sharing the same environment. Man and eater but not eating or bothered by man, helping dispel the sharks are monsters myth so loved by the media.
How do you feel about the photo?
