Jaws is a perfect movie, says Emily Blunt

Speaking in an interview to Rotten Tomatoes, actress Emily Blunt has said that Jaws is her favourite movie of all time.

Blunt needed a bigger boat in Jungle Cruise, kept the money grabbing sharks at the bank at bay in Mary Poppins Returns and faced her own monsters with jaws in A Quiet Place and its follow up, A Quiet Place II.

The latter also features a lovely homage to Jaws, with Brody’s Pizzeria being seen in the background.

Of Jaws, she said: “I’ve seen it about 30 times. Even though it has a ludicrous backdrop of them trying to find this Great White shark, I think it’s a film about people and relationships — and I just think the performances are fantastic."

Blunt went onto praise its amazing characters, which is no surprise as she has a real soft spot for Chief Brody, played by Roy Scheider.

“I do think it’s a perfect movie,” Blunt said, talking about its “amazing characters.”

She added: “I know so many people worldwide who became victims of Steven Spielberg and will not go in the water.” Until recently that included Blunt herself, as thanks to the summer blockbuster she was still terrified of sharks.

That’s some bad hat, Mary

Blunt does feel like it is safe to go back into the water though, as she has started diving, which has helped her become friends with sharks again.

She said: "I went diving with the Grey Reef sharks and Blacktip sharks, and that was extraordinary.”

Blunt is now set to feature on Oppenheimer, Christopher Nolan's next film, about the story of the controversial scientist J. Robert Oppenheimer, the man who created the nuclear bomb.

One of which was delivered by the USS Indianapolis, as was recounted by Quint, played by Robert Shaw in Jaws.
