JAWS TOWN NAMED AS ONE OF THE WORLD'S MOST BEAUTIFUL FILM LOCATIONS

Amity is a town that depends on summer dollars, and what better way to bring in those dollars than with tourists? The same could be said of the real-life filming location of Jaws, Martha's Vineyard.

It's just been ranked as 11th in a list of the top 100 most beautiful film locations according to Big7Travel guide, not a bad record for this vicinity.

South beach, Martha’s Vineyard

It's nestled between Ksour, Tunisia at the number 12 position and the Glenfinnan Viaduct, in Scotland at number 10. The former is for the part in played as the home of Luke Skywalker in Star Wars, and the latter as being a location that the Hogwarts Express can be seen going over in the Harry Potter films.

Martha's Vineyard is still a very beautiful place, made all the more special by its connection to the Jaws franchise, with it also being featured in Jaws 2 and Jaws The Revenge.

Naturally, it is most closely associated with the original Jaws, the filmmakers making use of many of the island's stunning locations. But, how have they changed since 1974, the year Jaws was shot?

Independent film director and huge Jaws nut, (he's certifiable, probably) Toby Kearton, takes on a tour of the Vineyard and iconic Jaws filming locations, showing us just how they have changed over the years.

He covers everything from Main Street, The Jaws Bridge and the Brody's residence. You can join him on his Jaws tour here: JAWS FILMING LOCATIONS: THEN & NOW

Making the trip to Martha's Vineyard is like a pilgrimage to any Jaws fan, wherever they live in the world. In fact it's one of things we have listed as our Jaws Laws:

One family who made that very trip were the

Goreham family, from Birmingham in the UK. All are huge Jaws fans and we lucky to have them share their own Amity Island adventure with The Daily Jaws. Check out how they got on and some of their brilliant photos and tips, here: Jaws: from the VCR to the Vineyard

Have you been lucky enough to visit Martha's Vineyard? We'd love to hear your recommendations on where to go, where to shop, where to eat, or anything that you think would be of interest to fellow Jaws fans planning their own visit to the place that's only an island if you look at it from the water.
