JAWS mural stuns Southend on Sea residents

You can catch The Shark Is Broken from 25th July 2023 at the Golden Theater, New York, NYC.

No whistles, no whistles! A great white shark has been seen in Southend, but don't worry it was just at the top of the Essex city's high street as part of a city wide art project.

The mural on a cube featured the shark from JAWS flanked by captain of the Orca, Quint (Robert Shaw) in an amazing tribute to the classic Steven Spielberg film and Quint.

The impressive artwork was created by that paint happy b@stard Mr Meana, and his rendition of two icons of cinema and pop culture has been thrilling passers by and visitors to the city as part of the Southend City Jam graffiti art event.

Posting on the Mr Meana Street Art Facebook page, Peter Chandler said: “Best character from the best film. Masterclass in Quint artwork” and Janette Tucker added: “Incredible work. It looks fantastic.”

The position of the mural was even more fitting as it is situated opposite the Odeon cinema, especially with JAWS being the first film in history to cross the $100 million barrier in the US.
